Augean’s Streamlined Approach To The Transport, Treatment And Disposal Of
5,000 Tonnes Of Hazardous Soil.
Project Description
During March 2023, Augean arranged the transport,
treatment and disposal of around 5,000 tones of
hazardous soils from Clydebank in Scotland. Over a five week period, the material was transported to our Port
Clarence Treatment Facility. The hazardous soils were
contaminated with a variety of contaminants including
Hydrocarbons, Heavy Metals and Asbestos.
Augean’s treatment team presented the best segregation of contaminants to reduce overall disposal costs and were able to provide treatment options for all levels of contamination at the same facility. Once treated, the material was reused or disposed at our Port Clarence site providing a cradle-to-grave solution.
The level of contamination and short timeline, meant
strict deadlines were required by the client. The Augean
team responded to the challenge by actioning transport requests within 24-48hr throughout the project.
Utilising our robust supply chain, Articulated Tippers were used to reduce transport costs and truck movements on site. Augean provided the client with all the relevant compliance documentation and regular tonnage reports, to ensure they were able to track the project’s progress closely. All of the material was treated and diverted from direct landfill disposal, achieving significant cost savings and following the waste hierarchy.
This scheme was a key example of Augean’s high level
of customer service and ability to transport, treat and
dispose of the UK’s hard to handle wastes.
This project highlights our continued commitment to provide soil treatment options to Scotland’s Infrastructure and Construction sector. The Augean team was able to respond quickly to the client’s requests and transport the material to our Port Clarence Facility, while meeting strict timelines and achieving significant cost savings for our client. We would like to thank ERS for their continued custom.
