Project Overview
During an ash collection operation at the client’s site, an incident occurred during loading where ash overflowed from the vehicle onto the ground within the silo offloading area. As a result, a ‘Stop The Job’ directive was immediately implemented, and all operations were halted to prevent further risk.
Following the incident, Augean engaged in prompt discussions with both the client and the haulier. The situation was thoroughly assessed, and Augean responded swiftly, offering several response options. A joint plan of action was developed to manage the incident and mitigate any potential environmental impact.
The initial priority was to address the immediate situation to enable the vehicle to depart safely as soon as reasonably practicable. The vehicle remained on-site while the affected area was cleaned using DISAB equipment, and the excess ash from the top of the vehicle was removed.
Once the client confirmed that the site had been fully cleaned, Augean sent a representative—alongside the haulier—to inspect the area. Upon mutual agreement that the clean-up met safety and environmental standards, the vehicle was authorised to leave the site.
Post-Incident Support and Monitoring
Augean collaborated closely with the client to support their investigation, facilitating the process by providing photographic evidence and written statements. This enabled the client to identify the root cause of the incident and implement corrective measures to mitigate and control future risks.
Throughout the clean-up process, Augean maintained active communication and oversight. By closely monitoring the progress, we ensured that all actions were carried out safely and in full compliance with environmental standards. Only once it was confirmed that the area was fully remediated, and all safety checks had been completed was the vehicle cleared to return to the road—thereby preventing any risk of environmental exposure.
