How long have you been with the Augean Group?
I joined Augean in August 2024.

What was your background before joining Augean?
My first job as a Laboratory Chemist happened to be for a waste management company and I’ve stayed in the sector ever since.
I spent most of my career at the Fawley hazardous waste incinerator and a radioactive waste management company in Winfrith. I’ve held technical, business development and commercial management roles throughout.

What training & support have you had at Augean?
I’m relatively new at Augean but I have my IOSH Managing Safely certificate, which I’m set to re-do now that I’ve changed role.

What is the hardest part of your role?
Forecasting and planning workflow can be a challenge. A lot of our work is from the public sector and projects quite often get delayed. On the flip side, at the start of the year money can suddenly be released and there is a rush to consign waste before the end of March.

How do you add to the customer experience & support the Radioactive Waste sectors?
Managing waste responsibly is vital to looking after the environment. Dealing with the radioactive waste from the first generation of nuclear power stations safely and responsibly is key to inspiring public confidence and a social license to build new stations, which are needed as part of the fight against climate change.

What is your top tip for decompressing after a challenging day at work?
I play golf and there is nothing better than playing my home course in the New Forest on a summer’s evening with nature all around. Not so easy in the winter months, but I still enjoy practicing and trying to improve.
